Meet the band

ANSWERS is a quintet of improvising composers. Equally at home in amplified and acoustic settings, the band performs spontaneous improvisations, original works, interpretations of graphic scores, virtuosic contemporary classical music, and works for open instrumentation. ANSWERS is on a mission to perform without limitations.

    Thad Anderson (b. 1980) is an Associate Professor of Music at the University of Central Florida where he coordinates the percussion studies program and directs the percussion ensemble. Joining the faculty in 2009, Anderson also oversees the Collide Contemporary Music Series. Read more….

    Beatriz Ramirez is a freelance oboist currently residing in Orlando, Florida. She is a co-founder and performer in the Alterity Chamber Orchestra and also performs regularly in Belt & Ramirez and ANSWERS.

    Christopher Belt enjoys a a multi-faceted career as a performer, arts administrator, and educator. Recent engagements include conducting the Alterity Chamber Orchestra in a performance of John Adams "Son of Chamber Symphony", a featured solo performance for the live taping of the nationally broadcast NPR program "Science Friday," and the premiere of an original new site-specific work for 60 guitarists that he composed and conducted.     Brandon Kyle Jude Miller is a freelance bassist, composer, and educator born and raised in Orlando, Florida. Current projects include ANSWERS, Cornelius Lee, Two Pounds, and The Looniest Toon. Former projects include Ancient Sun, Flat Land, and The Brian Tarquin Group. Brandon received his degrees in jazz performance from the University of Central Florida and the University of South Florida. He performs on double, electric, and keyboard basses. Read more…

  • Violin

    Caitlin Pequignot is a producer, singer, and violinist who makes pop-electronic music when she isn't working in tech. She has been writing, producing, and performing her original music since 2008, slowly evolving her blend of pop-synths, evocative strings, and contemplative original lyrics.

    A classically-trained professional violinist, Caitlin studied music and molecular biology at Yale University before returning home to Orlando, Florida. While there, she performed with ensembles like the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra, the new music pioneers of the Alterity Chamber Ensemble, and ANSWERS. She now lives in San Francisco, California, where she works at Airtable as a user experience researcher and creates pop-electronic music under the name Aveleon. Read more…
